Weight Loss
When we begin a weight loss program it is important to develop an understanding of the needs that eating satisfies, and to develop new ways to meet those needs. I have worked with lots of men and women who eat because they are bored, or alone, or nervous, etc. We don't eat a bag of Chocolate chip cookies or a carton of ice cream because we are hungry. The food and the activity are a means of self care. Of course binge eating is a poor way to care for yourself and, unless we can replace it with new strategies and tools to meet our needs, our permanent weight loss is impossible.
Most diets work, in the beginning. Most of us are able to muster up enough willpower to follow a new diet for a few weeks or months. In that time we can actually lose a lot of weight. However, unless we develop an understanding of the various needs that eating (and perhaps even being overweight) meets, then our weight loss is going to be temporary. I have seen clients lose all the weight that they wanted, then drop out of training and proceed to gain it all back.
There are as many reasons for this as there are dieters, but one answer is that the skills which we need to maintain our weight are different than the skills we need to lose the weight.

How To Make It Work
The hypnosis weight loss program I offer has the potential to help clients through the various stages of the process. Some of the major elements I work with are self-esteem, eating and exercise.
Many of my clients have commented on the subtle ways the sessions change their lives. One lady confided that she had a habit of eating a bag of trail mix every day. After several hypnosis sessions, she realized that her desire for the snack was simply gone. Clients find that they naturally choose to eat more vegetables, and to drink more water. Others have told me that they simply chew their food longer and eat more slowly, and find that they are eating less.
These small steps all add up to permanent weight loss, without the struggle. Of course there are always choices to make. Hypnosis can't take trail mix out of the local 7-11, and it can't make you do anything you don't really want to do.
However, if you have a genuine desire to change your life, the work we do in these sessions will allow you to make the choice with less difficulty. In fact, you might just find yourself eating the right foods and enjoying a walk in the evenings because it's what you really want to do. Additional Support:
I encourage my clients to use every resource to achieve their goals. Permanent weight loss should include an exercise component. Not only does exercise help burn calories but, by exchanging muscle for fat, you are able to increase your resting metabolism.
Muscle is much more dynamic tissue, and each pound of muscle burns more calories than fat. The result is that you lose weight faster. Plus exercise is a great way to relieve stress and increase your energy level.
Because exercise is such a natural complement to permanent weight loss, I offer each client two complimentary training sessions.
I have also found that many weight loss clients find that the practice of meditation is extremely helpful in supporting a weight loss program. If you can train the mind, and develop a degree of inner spaciousness, then the impulse to eat the wrong foods can be seen for what they are, simply thoughts.
With consistent practice, meditation can empower you to overcome the impulses and urges which have sabotaged your diets and weight loss programs in the past. I encourage any weight loss client who is interested in learning to develope a practice to take advantage of my seminar Realizing Inner Peace.
